2004-07-31 - 10:55 a.m. When you're a seasoned performer, or an artist of any kind of depth, you soak up your influences over the years and they get mutated into something else, something altogether different, or different enough. When you're callow, shallow, or fallow, your influences lay right on the surface, inviting stupid comparisons like "[Band I saw last night] is essentially Morrissey fronting the Jam." I'm sorry, I tried to like them. And they seem fairly beloved in their circle, so I'm not worried about them too much. I heard TMBG put on an awesome show. thoughts?
