Have been riffling through Geoffrey O'Brien's Sonata for Jukebox, essays on the experience of listening to pop music. Like all essays of this nature, I start out reading raptly, nodding my head (at least inwardly), and then after 10 pages, I just wanna go listen to music(or play it) and stop reading about it. It's well-written, but in the final analysis I can't focus on stuff like this.
