So, other weekend highlights: read the very sad memoir How to Cook Your Daughter by Jessica Hendra, and started Shroud of the Thwacker, which is a hilarious send-up of historical mysteries (particularly The Alienist) and reads similarly to one of the funniest books of the last several years, My Little Blue Dress. I also visited the storied Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island where I gawked at purty guitars. The store is a triumph of small-space organization, as they manage to cram about a million stringed instruments into one medium-sized shop without too much claustrophobia-inducing squeeziness. thoughts?
