The only good thing about Somethings Gotta Give was Amanda Peet. A favorite of mine since the ol' Jack and Jill tv show days. Which was another awful experience. Ahh, the things we do for love!

Weirdly, the day before I saw SGG, I saw Identity, which also featured Ms. Peet. It was like an Amanda Peet Film Festival.

One more thing about SGG: It could have been an interesting film if it had ventured to be even a little bit honest or daring or angry or sad. If there was a scrap of class awareness, or the hint that later-life romances are not the same as young adult romances, and can't be, and shouldn't be.
Instead it was a pure soft-focus fantasy for older women, in which an older but distinguished and of course very successful woman with lots of great clothes is wooed and courted by everyone she meets, including a successful record label owner and a young studly doctor. And, at the age of 56, she finally meets a guy who "gets" her, and the evidence of this is that he makes a general, Cosmo-quiz, third-date sort of observation about her character, the likes of which this highly educated and sophisticated woman has never heard before. Ick
The ending is obvious, even though it takes what seems like 3 hours to get there.
