I hate those ads too, and the sad thing is that Yoplait has been my favorite brand of yogurt for years & years. I've tried other kinds, but keep going back to Yoplait. You can tell Y. is targeted towards women because so many of the flavors are named after desserts (Key Lime Pie, Blueberry Crumble, Strawberry Cheesecake, etc.). If a man wanted cheesecake, he'd just eat a piece of cheesecake. Dude, yogurt's never going to taste like cake or pie. Give it a rest. It's still great yogurt, though...

I think the name is pretty feminine, too. In this culture, French is for goils.

My confession for today is that I've never eaten yogurt. I've had it in things, but I've never had a cuppa yogurt, or even a spoonful. Some day...

My confession is that I always want to whop that woman in the face with a shovel whenever she says "ged". But it's reassuring to see that goils don't like her either. On the other hand, it's not reassuring that I don't want to whop anyone in the face in the Coors commercials, though I hate those probably even more. (And because of them I even had the displeasure of running across "For Those about to Rock" on the radio the other day. Then again, that's a faceless voice;; they're harder to whop.)

But even when there's a male face emitting the speaking or singing in a TV ad, I can't think of instances of wanting to shovel-whop;; could this be virtual misogyny? Okay, maybe the guys in advertisements for "Will and Grace", but even there, more so the women. (And Diane Sawyer, the comic strip "Rose is Rose", the list goes on....) I prefer to think of it as "Insipiphobia", but I dunno. And if isn't insipiphobia, what would be the female analog? (I know it ain't wanting to whop male nipples, or punch out prostates, but I'm unaware of any desire to whop a male image in the face.) (Maybe twist something for being insipid?) I just hope that there's no female desire to shovel-whop that yogurt woman;; that would hardly seem fair. (Or, for that matter, good advertising.)
