Maybe we should get Freddys in the 'landmark' status catagory.

Great article. Posted before I read it. Unrelated remark, I'm starting to think that my calling is to help people less fortunate then I. I have no respect, unfortunately, for the well to do people I work with. (Gee Andy, all you talk about is yourself!)

Andy,-- Haven't heard the landmark angle yet -- it's a good 'un. As for the Pixies, boy is that gonna be a mob scene. I'm glad I already saw 'em, 'cause the arenas'll be jammed with folks who were still in kneepants when they last came around.

Garrigus:
Exactly--I saw the Pixies on their farewell tour, so it hasn't been *that* long, and I'd rather leave them for the kids who haven't seen 'em.

I saw the Pixies when they were opening for Throwing Muses, right after their first EP had just been released. Boy, am I ancient. I saw them at least half a dozen times thereafter, from tiny clubs to opening for U2 in a huge arena. I agree, Paula -- leave this "reunion" tour to the kids. I'll always have my memories...

I'll never forget the time my friend "RM", a fairly nerdy ex-hippie born-again Christian whose musical tastes ran towards 60s folk came back from a trip to Boston and told me about this kooky band called the Pixies he saw at a small local club, opening for....I forget.

"They had a lady bass player, and they were quite raucous."

I saw the Pixies at Vanderbilt in '91, on their last tour. It was a great show, there just wasn't enough of it -- I think even with encores it clocked in at right about an hour. By way of contrast, when we saw Frank Black last year, he rocked out for 2 hrs 30 mins and may have played more Pixies songs at that show then we got when we saw the Pixies! But unlike the consensus here, I'm damn sure going to see them again if I'm able. Coachella, Europe, and that northwestern "warm-up" tour are out, so I've gotta hope they can hold it together until the fall.
