The Matthew Sweet album was a Japan-only release for most of 2003, supposedly as a "thank you" to Sweet's Japanese following. Late last year, there was a limited domestic release, sold only at indie stores. That's when I got mine - for once, I successfully resisted the "buy now!" import urge and was rewarded.

(I'm still regretting resisting it for the Japanese-only CD of the lone CD by the Family, an '85 Prince spinoff that had the first released version of "Nothing Compares 2 U." It's been my favorite Prince spinoff album ever since, well, '85, but I thought "surely the Sinead O'Conner version of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' will get it a domestic release.' Um, think again. I should have bought dozens of them, 'cos a domestic version never came out and now I could be making a c-note a copy by selling them on eBay.)

The Sweet CD was talked about endlessly on Audities, but come to think of it, it wasn't talked up on the relatively more "normal" music lists, so... dunno.

A-ha, no wonder. I quit all my music lists a while back, because the benefits of talking/reading about music became outweighted by the angst of people bickering.

Is there really a business called Empire Dismantling? That's so cool. Aren't you tempted to go into the office and ask the owner whether it's intentional?

There's a storefront in the Fairfax district in L.A. that I always wanted to put in a movie: Unique Cleaners #2.

I would like to get an Empire Dismantling note pad or t-shirt if they have one, but I suspect it's not an intentional phrase-hominym/double-entendre.
