I think the line in "Unsatisfied" really is "liberty is a lie".. That was quoted in the Rolling Stone review of Let It Be as coming from Westerberg himself. I've always heard the line in "Answering Machine" that evidently is "try to teach a whore about romance" as "try to teach HER ALL about romance", and that's the way I'll continue to hear those words, even if it isn't right.

"Unsatisfied," and that part in particular, is one of those instances where it really doesn't matter what the actual words are, because Westerberg's delivery tells us exactly what he means, regardless of the words he happens to use to say it. He's good like that. I can never listen to the second-last verse of "Here Comes a Regular" without feeling, nearly in a physical way, the character's self-loathing.
