But Paula - you've summed up the best possible version of the film that I'd imagined, and done it so well that I feel like the film itself couldn't live up to that! And I don't even like Metallica's music.

You will come away with a new respect for their music, I guarantee. The prison scene is kinda touching, if you don't think too hard about it.

It's really a good movie, Jeff, if about 30 min. too long. The scene w/ Dave Mustaine was really uncomfortable. It underlines what Paula said about fame etc. not curing feelings of inadequacy. Sue & I saw this at the SF Film Festival & Metallica took questions afterward. They said the therapy saved the band, no doubt about it. It seems like they were at the place Pink Floyrd were at after ANIMALS - huge success and enormous interpersonal hostility w/ no way to express it. Even if ST. ANGER sucks, maybe they've got another couple decent records in them.

I went to go see that on.. . Thursday. You were right, it was a little overlong, and after a while I started wondering "How long could this be?" But, then again, I'm not a fan of that type of music, or the band in general, but I figured this would be alright. There was also like 2 people in the theatre considering it was 11:00am, so I wouldn't know how the other people felt, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Also, at the end I liked the band better then I did when I walked in.

Eric: I def. liked the band better afterwards, too. I am listening to St Anger, in fact, as we speak.

Puppets, eh? well this is probably a total non sequitor, as I think you might be speaking in metaphor, or some other form of feminine complexity, but puppets have always seemed a bit creepy to me, some people don't like clowns, but for me it's puppets, I think it's the lack of real facial expressions that kind of scares me, except this guy, he's da man.
