Paul Simenon wrote a book? I didn't know that.

I was thinking the same thing about the telephone scene. I guess it was creating tension, because we could feel the guy's impatience and how he only wanted to find out where his wife was. Movie went off in a totally different direction than it started in. It was different.

Without giving anything away (to the 1 or 2 persons who may end up renting this from Netflix someday), but I didn't buy the ending at all. The resolution bears no relation to reality.

I should also point out that this film may be very "triggering" for alcoholics. I'm a fairly light drinker myself, and I wanted to down a fifth of Scotch and 2 six packs immediately upon exiting the theater. There's a lot of alky-hol in this flick, and it all looks really tasty.
