Sparks is the ginchiest. The weird and wonderful AM radio station here in Denver has a few of their songs on what I swear is someone's personal iPod on shuffle hooked up to the transmitter (Station is up for sale, so in the interim, no DJs, and almost no commercials, and the kind of playlist a 40-something music junkie would have on their iPod). Nothing like hearing Tips For Teens, Grace Jones' cover of Love is the Drug, and Adam Sandler's The Lonesome Kicker back to back during the afternoon drive.

Alan, what station is that? I want to tell my friend in Denver about it.

It's AM 1150. They run 24 hours with a decent signal, which is rare for AM, but bizarrely, they broadcast University of Wyoming basketball games during the season. If your friend tunes in and hears sports, it's the right one, and just have them try again later.

Here's this, on knock-knock jokes: http://www.theonionavclub.com/ssf/index.php?issue=4047. That's the 11/24/04 issue of The Onion, "Say Something Funny," cuz I forget if this commenter allows URLs.

On Sparks: Coincidentally (as you know), the other day Sue T. mentioned that The New Pornographers covered "Throw Her Away and Get a New One" live, with Neko singing (it's available on th most recent WFMU comp): it occurs to me that people who like TNP would almost certainly like most of the first ten or so Sparks albums.

Brendan Small's HOME MOVIES is the best cartoon show around.
