"California smells good. Do Californians know this?"
Generally speaking, no.

Speaking as a non-native Californian, hardly a day goes by that I don't remark to myself how lovely it smells around here. I can't vouch for the natives, but yes a lot of Californians DO appreciate the smell here, particularly near the ocean.

It's the eucalyptus, I think. Or at least that's what makes me widen my nostrils in appreciation. Also, the jasmine.

California is definitely the best smelling state in the lower 48. I think Southern CA smells better than Northern CA though.

Transvestite Flight Attendants would be an EXCELLENT name for a band.

How do you in fact know the flight attendants weren't transvestites? Perhaps they were merely very good ones...

Or a Robert Pollard song.

Sharps--You haven't heard of Pollard's side project he calls Guided Bi Vices???

Paula, I have flown AirTran a number of times and have never thought about the name in that way. You have a truly unique mind. AirTran is the former ValuJet (most remembered for a tragic crash in FL), so in a way they are disguising their birth identity.

Wow, ValuJet sounds so glam-rock.
