I love Baskin Robbins desperately, and in these days of hippie ice cream and faux-Dutch treats it's good to see that they're still going strong and rocking taste buds.

What's wrong with either of those brands?

I'm prejudiced against hippies and the faux-Dutch. Small-minded I know... I'm a victim of my upbringing.

Speaking as a person who's deeply lactose-intolerant, I have to throw in a word for Tofutti-brand ice cream alternative; it's pretty darned good! Some even prefer their ice cream sandwiches to the real thing...

I have a friend who just made a "spiritual pilgrimage" to Paris, France recently; which just goes to show, I guess, that spirituality's where you find it.

I love Tofutti ice cream samwiches, especially the coffee-flavored ones.

I also love Paris, France.

I sometimes want to be a monk also, i sometimes think I'm already a monk, but mostly my pilgrimages are inside a bottle of Trappist ale ( i can't actually get inside, I think that must be why I keep tryin').

And I love the faux-Dutch!

So... The National... I've only heard a couple songs off the new release, but it struck me the other day that the singer sounds an awful lot like that Canadian guy/band that did the Superman Song, that baritone humming MM MM MM MM song... What were they called?

Paula - 2007-06-04 16:23:44
The Crash Test Dummies? Hmm, I guess. He reminds me of Roger Miller or Clint Conley of MoB (I can't distinguish the vocalists).

YES, Crash Test Dummies... I block out that name, perhaps because of the frightful bellow the singer lets out at the beginning of that MM MM MM song... OOOOOOOOONCE.

Clint has the higher vocal range and the raspier tone. He sang "Academy Fight Song", "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate" and the backup stuff on "Max Ernst" (in the pretty house, in the pretty house...)

Paula - 2007-06-05 15:28:11
Didn't Clint also sing "TWIRFMR"?

You can probably tell I am naught but a casual admirer of the band.

Clint did indeed.
