Two of the hardest things I ever had to say as a manager: 1) Speaking to a co-worker about hygiene. We're talking about PFD (Pits For Days) 2) Explaining to a young lady that her little Donna Karan outfits look great on her but were a little to short for visiting religious charities (we'd gotten complaints). She also wore minis with hose and no knickers--a later complaint from co-workers that I handily passed to Human Resources. That book though you found though--definitely George Orwell's Guide to Management.

You should post the advice on Insisting on Better Hygiene from a Subordinate -- I know someone who's dealing with a stinky subordinate but he's too nervous to bring it up...

I don't know that various hip-hop terms necessarily are pronounced differently so much as spelled so - to designate their hip-hopness. (Hip-hoppitude?) I'm just surprised that that's still going on - given the pace of change in popular music generally that's kind of like people still wearing Victorian clothing or something. Greg: in the case of your young female cow-orker with the hose and no knickers: photographic documentation is a must, in case there's a lawsuit later. The evidence should be posted on the internet, so no one can accuse the firm of hiding anything. Plus, a third party unaffiliated with either the firm or the young woman (such as myself) should have a private, confidential meeting with her. (Note: I am not a lawyer.)

"tha" is pronounced "the". "the" with a slightly heavier emphasis than it would ordinarily get.
