the best part of the hokey-pokey is when you put your whole self in

Oh yeah -- without a doubt; now if we could just figure out the best part of Alley Cat, we'd really be set.

Oh I dig Karate! Have never heard anyone else mention them. I heard "Original spies" off of Some boots and bought the record immediately. It's one of those songs that makes you airguitar. "You" meaning "me". "Original spies"!

I disagree that Farina sounds like Fagen. But I really only know that one album and the earlier "This day next year", which keeps popping up on Pandora for some reason.

I am the King of Hokey Pokey. There is no better Hokey-Pokier in the entire world. I've even got a friggin' award for lifetime achievement. It's the Leggy and it's a Bronzed Left Leg on a pedastal. It shakes when you push a button.

That was my slightly disingenuous way of saying "Gothenburg metal fans may find them a little too jazzy," which I should have just come right out and said.

But hey--nice to find another Karate fan!

Ah yes. They are pretty jazzy. They're about as jazzy as you can get for a rock band. I'd say they're jazzier than Steely Dan.

You need to put this in a rap song, and rhyme it with "man" and "plan" and "Old Tappan." And "that synth-pop group, Japan."

That Caribou album is also at eMusic. And yes, it's been in heavy rotation here at 2fs World HQ. I keep thinking some of the later songs on the album drop off in quality a bit...but mostly that's because in my mind's current Top 40, "Melody Day" and "Sandy" are like one of those freak Beatles singles both of whose sides jump back and forth from #1 to #2.

...depending on whether you are right-brained or left-brained.

For some reason when I scanned this post today, all that came to my head was Super Furry Hokey Pokey.
