I say stay away. Why risk it?

I think I may have developed a new way of reviewing media, and an exciting new lifestyle.

Wow, Paula, I thought at first that your helium shortage report was a gag. Yikes! Out here in anotherPleasant ValleySunday, you can buy all the helium tanks from PartyCity you want. Each tank can fill like 30 balloons?...Eagerly awaiting your postmovie paulaness. Intrigued by the concept of the film, different actors being Bob, but not that crazy about the idea of different actors singing Bob. Did you ever hear or see the Neil Innes parody of Dylan? "Let me turn you on, To the chromium swan, On the end of a long limousine. We can hide for the day, It is something to say, But we don't always say what we mean. Rain on a tin roof sounds like a drum, We're marching for freedom today,.. Hey! (something part I forget) and sound (?) your horn, If people should get in your way!!

The could probably replace the world supply of helium by tapping J-Lo playing Hector Lavoe's girlfriend in El Cantante. I really love the music... and I even really love Marc Anthony's voice, but what a mess this movie is. Such a damn shame.

I may risk actually seeing No Country for Old Men this weekend. Since it's the Coens, I too have decided that I like it. I'm Not There may actually be very cool, but I'm still struggling with Haynes' Velvet Goldmine - I missed adding my tuppence about it a few threads ago, but I very much *didn't* like VG, though the music was superb. It's been a long time since I saw it, so my "why" may be lacking, but I do remember feeling like the movie was being rather insistent that I like and sympathize with Christian Bale's character, and instead he throughly creeped me out. On the other hand, I really liked Far From Heaven and Safe, but that could just be my Julianne Moore crush talkin'...

Juliannne Moore is amazing. Is she married to Haynes?

Paula - 2007-11-22 12:51:26
Haynes is gay, and Julianne has the misfortune to be married to the least talented man in Hollywood, Bart Freundlich (sp?), whose films are painfully awful.

Miles: and instead he throughly creeped me out.

Interesting! That is the movie that ignited my Christian Bale appreciation, and he has never let me down since. It's funny how certain roles and actors can trigger such visceral responses in us.
