I love that you wanted it to be shorter, but want the DVD to have extras! Happy day after thanksgiving.

The movie was too long (for my attention span) for one sitting, but divvied up over a couple of sittings = "mini-series"! Woo.

Miss Lulu is incredibly, outrageously intelligent, but believe it or not, she and I have never been to a movie together, and we're seven months into seeing each other. I think we've only watched maybe two movies on DVD, even. It's a combo of attention span + claustropobia, which is totally legit... but I am jonesing for a movie in a theatre right now. I hate going to the movies by myself, though! I don't think I've seen a movie since early April, and I sure don't want 300 to be the last movie I ever see in a "hardtop" (to steal Joe Bob Briggs' parlance).

Interesting--I *love* seeing movies by myself, I usually prefer it.

I'm going to straddle this fence called "movie-going" and say that while I prefer watching movies alone -- I do quite like having someone around afterwards to chat about the flick with. Perhaps someone could start a very unique escort agency that offers just such a service; I'd personally pony up for tickets, popcorn, a soft-drink and parking -- all the escort has to do is listen to me blather about the movie afterwards (they can even disagree with me!)
P.S. -- saw I'm Not There tonight. Brilliant! But then again, Haynes usually is.
P.P.S. -- Cate Blanchett is also the "cutest" Bob Dylan; I may be biased...

I agree with almost everything you say about I'M NOT THERE except I thought it was about a half hour too long, and that the final third got a little incoherent. The whole Pat Garret/Bill the Kid part never really came together for me (but My Morning Jacket was tremendous). E. and I really loved the Cate B. and "Blood on the Tracks" scenarios the best. The "Beatles" bit was hilarious but the idiot reviewer in NEWSWEEK got it all wrong - that was clearly an homage to Richard Lester, not the Teletubbies! (*Smacks forehead*)

Me, neither, but the giraffe and the coffin and other little bits made it tolerable...And ditto MMJacket.

Terribly late here, but I just saw I'M NOT THERE today, and I thought it was beautiful, and very moving. And I loved the Billy the Kid/Riddle, MO stuff! I immediately associated it with Greil Marcus's "Old Weird America."
