The Oscars are always boring -- but it went by pretty zippily for me, with the aid of my friends' poodle-mix dog, my other friends' 5 year-old daughter, and about $120 worth of chinese food
... under those conditions, it's actually fairly enjoyable.
And yes, Harrison Ford, who, despite his All-American name, is partially of Russian ancestry, appears to be aging into this character.

Yes, pretty dull and Harrison Ford seemed PISSED that he had to read such drivel. I half expected him to just stop and say "Just show the d*mn clips!" I did not see Once and this was the first time I heard the song and I was not all that impressed. I was glad it won though 'cause it makes a nice story and it shut out the Disney entry.

Every year, everyone complains how boring the Oscars were...and yet, every year, everyone watches the damned Oscars. Why? Why not just read about who won later? I mean, if they were suspenseful, they wouldn't be boring, right? Of course, I don't believe I've ever watched the Oscars...and of course, some people watch them socially, so they're more of an excuse than anything else (kind of like some friends and I used to watch the almost-always-awful Star Trek: Voyager...uh, just because, someone was a huge Trekker and felt compelled to watch the premier, and for some reason she kept hoping it would get better, and the rest of us figured, hey, beer and food and yappin' with friends, fun! I have no idea how to gracefully get out of this run-on parenthetical, so I won't).

I don't--I generally get a kick out of 'em, and either watch with others (fun) or sort of half-watch while doing something else.

I thought this year was particularly tame, but I watched because I do enjoy the spectacle, the suspense, the speeches, the jokes. And I will probably watch again next year. It was a tradition in my family, I have a lot of great memories wrapped up in the Oscars.

In other words, I'd rather watch, on the chance that something fun and exciting happens than to not watch and miss out. There's always something worthwhile. It's like a sporting event.

Just saw Tilda Swinton in War Zone last night. I've seen it before but I forgot how utterly disturbing and real the film is. I was near an anxiety attack by the end of the film.
