The love of music and art are funny things. I used to think it was important for friends and lovers to like all the same music and art and have discovered that the importance lies in not what you like, but that you both love what you love for the same reasons... that what you love means less than how and why you love it.

I'm with you there. Although last summer I was dating a guy who didn't know who the Pixies were, and that came to symbolize some insurmountable difference between us. I'm not sure whether that illustrates or belies your point, but I guess it doesn't matter now.

Well... there are insurmountable cultural and generational differences as well, but that is related.

Stones catalog through 1970 on eMusic: very good thing. I'm going to cheaply fill in the gaps in my collection.

Also: what does it say about me that my eyes misread that one title in your post as Phoebe Washburn's Enhancing a Deep Down Thrust...? Wait - don't answer that.

Also: Larry Craig's doing the CAPTCHA thingy: my initial one was "Mr Widespread"...

P: I am reminded of an old RT lyric (I don't think this made it onto the record):

That was how I thought you found out who you loved: You looked through his records.

...One exgf (in NZ!) clued me into Regina Spektor -- Not Bad! ...
