What's she doing at UO? Anyway, I'm optimistic about Iran.

I am optimistic that after eight long years, we'll finally have a president in the White House that we can again admire (or at the very least, not feel actively embarassed about...), come this January -- I am also optimistic that, despite the current state of the economy, I'll have plenty of work through the end of the year -- and probably into next as well...

It seems like you get to see a classier strainn of celebrity in NYC than I do out here in LaLaland -- I always thought JM was incredibly elegant; and beautiful, of course.

I am, despite my cynicism, optimistic about an upcoming regime change. Barack Obama, it seems, has it locked. McCain is clearly off his nut and even his own people seem to realize it. So although I would like to see a candidate with a stronger Green agenda, it hasn't escaped me that having an African-American presidential candidate is a truly monumental event. Some of my earliest memories are of racism in Baltimore and then moving to upstate NY where segregation prevailed (and does largely still), so I'm profoundly thrilled that we've come this far. On a personal level I'm optimistic that I've finally discovered my own voice as a writer and that I'll be able to take it forward. It's an empowering feeling and it's carried over into other aspects of my life. I'm optimistic that I can move closer to what I've always wanted for myself.

Hey MacGregor, I'm really interested in reading your piece on "The Future is Unwritten". What's your blog called?) I think I'm optimistic about the nature of "race relations" (as it used to be known) in the United States. I was thinking about it on the 4th of July recently. I went to the local fireworks show in town. It's a mostly working class community. (Far from the hip grooviness of Brooklyn.) And kind of by accident, very multi-racial. A local bar band was playing and suddenly and spontaneously a conga line formed. It was like a romantic revolutionary dream, black and white and latin and whatever, little kids, and guys that looked like archie bunker and sexy Colombian moms and teenagers with scary t-shirts dancing in a laughing trance winding our way through the blankets and lawn chairs.

Hey Sharon--my wee review didn't turn out as grand as I planned because all the personal connections to punks and ideals and such became a bit complex. It really got longwinded, as I am wont to do. My blog though is called Glossophagia and iff'n ya Googles it... you will find my pixellated vanity in full bloom.
