If they took the cameras off the bonobos and let them get back to doing what they do best in privacy, perhaps they would be less aggressive!!!

There may be some truth to that statement, in a Heisenberg-ian sort of way.

Or Hindenberg-ian more likely...

Wow, you're right - "Real Love" is a real rocker. But your observation that LU's new album has too many ballads connects with my frustration with all of her records since CAR WHEELS. Not enough rockers, too many slow-to-mid tempo dirges. Her writing seems to have gotten lazy, relying on endless repetition of the simplest chord changes and recycling lyrical themes she's done better and many times over. In all, I feel like she's become a low-energy parody of herself. And I feel almost exactly the same way about Aimee Mann and Rufus Wainwright--these were my favorite artists during their first couple of albums, but since then they seem to have eliminated from their work all the elements that spoke to me while emphasizing all their worst (for me) tendencies.

In Lucinda's case, I partly blame the press, which praises her every move as genius. That last album was such a profound snoozer, and it wound up on Best of the Year lists everywhere. Did anyone actually listen to it?

So I am encouraged by this latest upswing, and I give her kudos for covering ACDC in an ungimmicky fashion.
