ohmygod, for years, in my 20s, I watched 2, sometimes 3 episodes a day, mostly the 1-2 AM slot, while I practiced my guitar. I remember it with mixed feelings, as it was part of my somewhat weird somewhat obsessive lifestyle of that time.

www.anthemicpopwonder.com New York GBV inspired, with a memorable song "Party Tarts".

Apparently they're getting editors from the same Big Pile o' Stupid where they've been getting Presidents from recently...

It does appear, though, that "anthemic" is a pretty new word and, judging from google (you may want to exclude "pop wonder" from the search: hey, you folks have been diligent getting your name out!), it's been used almost exclusively in a music-critical context. Still, yr ed's a dolt...

well, that was what annoyed me--it's a classic rock journalist term, right up there with "Springsteenesque." But all has been forgiven.

Saturday night, 1973-1974, the legendary lineup: All in the Family/MASH/MTM/Bob Newhart. In the early 70s, my family could be found every Sat night in our TV room, eating steak (expensive, so reserved for Saturdays) and drinking Coke (my parents restricted our soft drink consumption to the weekends). Heaven! And since we were in the South, we got to start the night with HeeHaw at 6 pm! Saaa-loot! The finale of MTM is one of the all time great series endings.

Baby Party, we did the same thing! And I think the Carol Burnett Show was on at 10:00.

My Mom bought bad-for-us snacks, we watched the whole line-up, and it was pretty much the only thing we all did together.

Well, I grew up in the Central Time Zone, so it was 6 or 6:30 I guess for Hee Haw, and primetime started at 7. News was at 10. It took me years to get used to the Eastern Time Zone "news at 11" thang. Yes, TV time was our family togetherness time, too. We stopped going on family vacations when I was 8. Too much fightin'!
