Just for the record, when I was lad growing up in Queens, my stop was the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue /Broadway station; clearly the sexiest of all the stops along the F-train's route!

You know it, baby.

I have often noticed that the F train goes to many of the coolest spots in the city - Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, DUMBO, Chinatown, the Lower East Side, the Village, including the West 4th St stop (the center of the universe), Chelsea, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center (touristy but beautiful inside), Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens..if I skipped your hood, it's because I have not yet been made aware of its coolness.

What prompted me to mention it is that I was riding home from the very good Liza & the Wonderwheels/Circus Guy gig at 169 Club last night, and took the F to the R.
I noticed that the variety of passengers was astonishing--all walks of life were represented, and it was very crowded so there was this sense of huddling around a campfire of humanity. The R train is a tad more homogenous, especially as you get to the outer 'hoods.

In other news: funny you should mention Gang of Four, I was just reading about them - they've gotten back together to do a tour. http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/fridayreview/story/0,12102,1384337,00.html

I do not like what I have heard of The Futureheads, though there is every indication I should like them. What am I missing? My favorite stop is... I dunno. I've never rid an NYC train. I did have fun on the Boston subway once though.

Baby Party: Yes, you DID skip my F-train-served neighborhood (Midwood) which admittedly is only cool if you find Hassidic communities cool. But you also left out Coney Island. Since moving back to NYC in '89, I've lived in Park Slope, then Forest Hills, then after years of living in two 2-3 nabes (also a super-sexy subway line), I'm back on my beloved F. F fans should check out the Adrian Lyne thriller JACOB'S LADDER for a particularly gripping scene which makes stunning use of the abandoned Bergen Street express station.
