Georges Bizet came up in conversation yesterday, and I had some hazy, crazy memory of being told that his last name, though French, had come to be pronounced "Bizz-ette" rather than "Biz-eh."

In googling "Bizet pronunciation," I found this awesome site Forvo featuring dour but impossibly good-looking scholars* intoning difficult words for the good of speakers of all languages. (It's "Bizeh" after all.)

Check out the exciting sound clips "Xavier Ribas," "hintergrunt," "serhat,""islenska" and many, many more!
